Miriam is the 17-year-old daughter of Egyptian parents. She lives with her mother and her sisters in Milan and like them, she has a small cross tattooed on her wrist, the identifying sign of the Orthodox Coptic community. For Miriam, that cross is becoming heavier and heavier, like her responsibili- ties with the family, from which she tries to escape seeking a foothold in her group of friends.
